I’m Katie and I’m a cottage industry florist and flower grower based in Bare; just a stones throw from the sea over looking Morecambe Bay and the South Lake District.
My love of flowers started when I was growing up. My parents were keen gardeners, much was cultivated from seed; planted to eat, cut or be looked at. Fast forward too many years for me to think about, and I find myself standing in my mum’s wellies holding my dad’s watering can.
My style is very informal, with a rustic and organic feel. I love colour and texture, from vibrant bouncy blooms to the subtle shades of delicate and intricate petals, not forgetting the curious and unusual that add a depth of interest and magic to an arrangement.
I am always looking for ways to be more eco friendly and sustainable in my work. I like to use recycled brown Kraft paper and twine for bunches, and repurposed silk ribbon for my arrangements. I use a naturally made floral foam for arrangements which will decompose in the garden or your green waste bin meaning it does not need to go to landfill, and I do try to limit single use plastics wherever I can; those I do use can be recycled or reused.
I believe we need to be as kind as we can to our world; if we look after nature, then nature will look after us.
If you would like to know more about my arrangements, whether it’s I do, I miss you or just for you, please head over to the contacts page and let’s chat flowers.
